 Ski / Snowboard Tour

We'll take you to the best stashes of powder to be found in central and northern Hokkaido. Impressive small hills offer deep, uninterrupted skiing, leaving you feeling that you have the mountain to yourself. Depending on weather conditions, your level of experience, need for rental equipment, and need for lessons or instruction, TNT will find the most appropriate location for your party. If the weather turns out nasty at one places. we'll go elsewhere, keeping downtime to a minimum.

  • Drift-ice Experience Tour

A massive ice drift from the East Russia/China border makes its way south to strike the north shore of Hokkaido each winter. This TNT Tour takes you to the northern city of Monbetsu (3 hours north of Asahikawa) where you will be taken on board an ice-breaking ship that plows its way directly through the ice tide. At the end of the trip, spend time in the Drift-Ice Museum before returning to Asahikawa.

Winter brings with it additional challenges with changing road conditions and seasonal road closures.

TNT offers an inexpensive, information packed, custom tour planning service to solve your winter-trip planning problems.

Just fill out an easy to follow form; arrival date, departure date, preferred transport, activities of interest, and we will arrange everything for you including travel directions (freeway and local road options), restaurants, activities, suggested timing, famous locations, optional nearby destinations, and preferred hotels. Using our pool of local and professional knowledge, TNT will provide you with the necessary information to make your trip a success.

In addition, we'll provide you with a customized travel book containing some simple survival Japanese to make your Hokkaido travel trouble-free.

All guides at TNT are at least bilingual, with the languages offered including Japanese (no surprise there), English, Polish, Spanish and French. Our senior guides are certified, seasoned professionals having lived and worked in the Taisetsuzan National Park for many years.

In addition to providing TNT customers with guided access to some the most outstanding outdoor locations in Hokkaido, you can trust TNT guides to always make your safety their priority and be equipped to handle any problems that may eventuate along the way, no matter how unlikely.

Below is some information about the Senior Guides at Taisetsu Nature Tours.

TNT Senior Guide:
hisashi WAKATABE

Hisashi Wakatabe has five years experience in nature conservation in Japan and a comprehensive understanding of outdoor skills and national parks.

Hisashi has spent most of his time working in national parks throughout Japan, as well as stints abroad in New Zealand and Guam. He has professional qualifications in outdoor first-aid and outdoor risk management, and is currently based in the Taisetsuzan National Park at Asahidake.

With his experience, qualifications, and intimate knowledge of the Taisetsuzan National Park, Hisashi will make sure your tour is safe, informative and fun.

TNT Senior Guide:
yoichi Ikeno

Yoichi Ikeno has in excess of 10 years outdoor experience spanning multiple continents. He has a bachelor degree in Physical Education from the University of Sacramento, California, and has previously worked in Niger, the Solomon Islands, Palau, Thailand and Afghanistan.

Yoichi has multiple professional qualifications in first aid, white-water rafting, skiing, and dive rescue.

Born and raised close to the Taisetsuzan National Park, Yoichi has a deep appreciation of the mountains of northern Hokkaido and a tireless enthusiasm for sharing their wonder with visitors.
